Friend Requests | Why doesn't PGMHA take friend requests? | Player placement is made after evaluations based on skill level. Many of our recreational divisions have multiple tiers (up to 3 sometimes) with multiple teams (this varies but typically 4-8 teams per tier). A player has the best opportunity for fun and development when they are playing amongst similarly skilled players. PGMHA encourages families to participate on new teams with new coaches as this provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends over their hockey playing experience from year to year. Having friends on an opposing team is equally as fun as having friends on the same team, should friends evaluate within the same tier within their division. |
Refund | What is the refund policy for Season Registration? | An administration fee and associated ice costs will be deducted from a refund request after your player has attended their first ice time. Additional fees could be deducted from your refund; consult the PGMHA Policy Manual for more details. An example of a recreational player requesting a refund would be: After a player's first scheduled ice time, the pro-rated cost of all scheduled ice to the date of a refund request will be deducted in addition to the administration fee. Refunds do not include processing fees you paid. |
Evaluations | What happens if my player misses Evaluations (recreational)? | If players register after evaluations or missed their scheduled evaluation, they will start play at the same level they played last year or the lower of the two tiers if they are new. After attending 3-4 ice times, the player may or may not be moved to a different tier (up or down) as it is in the players best interest to play in a similarly skilled division. Until a player has a Season Registration completed and it is paid in full, they are not registered with PGMHA; waitlisted registrants will be contacted to register with PGMHA (by completing a Season Registration) in the event as we are able to accommodate them. |
Arrival Time | Why can I only arrive 30 minutes prior to my scheduled ice time? | Please do not arrive more than 30 minutes prior to your scheduled ice time to avoid congestion in the hallways and to discourage play in the hallways that violates the facility posted rules. |
Warmup | Are teams permitted to have a dryland/warmup prior to a game? | Teams are to arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to their game and can only complete a warmup within their designated changeroom or outside the buildings. The facility does not permit warmups inside the building (hallways, etc.). |
I'm new to hockey | My player has never played hockey or skated before | U7 programming is fun-filled and designed for new-to-hockey players! U9 programming is also a fun-filled division and tiered, based on skill. Each U9 player will have a skill evaluation to determine the tier they will belong to. Evaluations result in similarly skilled players on the ice together which creates a better learning environment for all players. Click on Players > Recreational to learn more about our Recreational programming. Both U7 and U9 curriculum is set by our Director of Hockey Operations, administrated by each divisions respective Technical Director and delivered on-ice by coaches and on-ice volunteers. Players do not need to know how to skate to start playing hockey at U7 or U9. PGMHA often hosts a learn-to-skate program for new-to-hockey, U7 and U9 players, who have never skated before (ringette, hockey, power skating, etc.). Your Season Registration must be completed and paid in full by August 31st to register. Space is limited to this program. There are a number of companies in Prince George that offer private, Skate Canada certified, power skating instruction including Northern BC Centre for Skating and the Prince George Figure Skating Club. U7 & U9 typically play on both Saturday and Sundays and the times will vary. |
Registration Receipt | How do I obtain my registration receipt | The registrant can log into teamsnap.com using a computer browser (not the app) -don't click anywhere -then scroll down to view your registrations All the active registrations will be listed with an option for a receipt. The office cannot generate a receipt for you. At the end of the season (March 15th), once our hockey season is archived, you will not be able to obtain receipts so please get them when you pay for a registration! |
Ice Time Complaint | I'd like to complain about my ice time. | We have many factors that go into our scheduling! For example, some divisions have specific equipment that is required for their ice times which limits the scheduling to certain rinks. We cannot and do not rotate early mornings between divisions for many reasons. We do not dictate to the City which ice times we get - they give us what works for them and all other ice users in the City. We are also trying to schedule officials for your players' games and ensure the officials are not on their own ice, at the same time, as they are also hockey players! We also get specific time requests - I like early mornings, I like afternoons, etc. Every family has different preferences and schedules. We cannot accommodate everyone's schedule preferences. Did you know that we have 1,000 players, 300 volunteers and 65 teams across 20 divisions? We schedule over 2,000 ice times and close to 1,000 of those are games! |
Team Category? | What category is my team? | In BC we have several levels of Representative hockey, the categories are as follows: Top Tier is AAA - U15, U17, U18 *is under the BCEHL, *is regional programming and not hosted by Minor Hockey Associations Tier 1 - U13, U15, U18 (AA Zone, OMAHA for example, typically regional programming) Tier 2 - U13, U15, U18 Tier 3 - U13, U15, U18 Tier 4 - U13, U15, U18 *Tier 1 through 4: winners of their league, within their District attend Provincial Championships. Female Representative hockey is called Female A and it is not tiered. Recreational hockey may be referred to as: - Recreation 'C' - U11 Recreation Development (All considered 'Recreation A' teams) - All U11 hockey (development and recreational) is considered recreational hockey under NSO Regulations & PSO Policy |
Team Change | Team change | Once rostered to your team, please wait 3 weeks at the beginning of the season and attend all scheduled ice times. As the season progresses, teams and divisions are further evaluated. PGMHA cannot accommodate team change requests until a significant time frame has passed and we can further evaluate. |
